Short Bio
My name is Ruth Schmidt (born Ruth Ilonka), I was born in 1982 in Transylvania. I'm an accountant by profession. The colorless world of numbers didn't make me happy so I was always looking for something new. In my spare time I started painting with acrylic on canvas, self-taught. Because I felt that I had too little knowledge of my ideas, I started going to different drawing classes and painting classes. The really big change, came to me when I found a wonderful master, in 2017, Kalman Gasztonyi, who has been teaching for the secrets of classic oil painting ever since.
Statement
I have tried many things and finally feel that I have found the purpose of my coming years that my heart is drawn to: to become more acquainted with symbolism and surrealism in painting and to paint these kinds of paintings that "speak the unspeakable".I want ,like the symbolist painters, to use my paintings not only to copy the visible world, but also to convey thoughts and feelings. I want to paint the reality behind the experiencing world, I want to show the invisible things like childish faith, affection, human-to-human feelings, God-to-human relationship, passing away, hope, love, pain, humor. I paint my new paintings from my own experiences, events and impressions.
